Do you remember the pictures of Tenka Gammelgaards studio that were circulating the blog world a few months ago? That pretty picture with the white and black striped paint brushes? Well now her home has been photographed and kindly shared with the world by the Danish interior magazine “Bolig Magasinet”.

I love the playfulness, and as I’ve told you before I have such a hang up on white, black and gold, so all these pictures makes me really happy. (My happiness is also very much caused by the fact that my husband is finally back home! After beeing apart for almost a month, except for 4 days over Christmas, he is here. Nothing beats waking up in the morning next to your favourite person in the world!)

I am so happy that we now have these lovely candle holders made of real antlers in the shop. And don’t worry no reindeer are harmed when it comes to antlers. Old males’ antlers fall off in December, young males fall off in the early spring, and for females fall off in the summer. And then a new pair of antlers start growing. It’s a beautiful natural material that has been used for centuries in Northern Scandinavia.

I finally got around to ordering a new calendar for 2012. I am always late with these things. And I am also one of those who forget to change the month, it even annoys me. I found this lovely thing on Etsy at Ruby Red Design Studio. You can get your own copy here.

I also got myself a wood clipboard on eBay that I am planning to paint with my chalkboard paint and hang the calendar on.

Evening lovelies. After my rant about change at home I went to Ikea yesterday evening. Got myself a couple of new candle sticks, cushions and few baskets. Sometimes you only need to add a few details and then it feels like you’ve made a change. Sometimes though a big change can do a massive difference. Something I have wanted to do for a while is paint the floor in our bedroom. We rent, though, so that is a dream that probably won’t come true… But look how pretty this is.

There is something about worn out leather… it just ads personality. It shows signs of a life, of times that have been, experience, uniqueness. It is a prime example that used/worn is beautiful. I love the gold and black details in these pictures, and the leather chairs, simple but beautiful.

I can’t help but get a bit homesick when I see this typical winter midday picture (the winters in Scandinavia are dark, we only get a couple of hours of light, and it becomes immensely precious – the light).

My husband is still in Sweden and I have gone a little bit crazy in our apartment moving our furniture around and making long lists of things I want to buy/DIY in our living room. I am not sure why I always do that… seek after change, try to improve… it doesn’t always get better but I have that urge to move things around, stir things up. Sometimes I just want a clean slate – hate everything we have in the house – need to start over. It is when I get to that stage that I realise that I need my husband here – the grounded person in this relationship, to tell me “are you sure we should drill a hole there?” or “but it looks nice they way it is”. Anyone else suffering from this disorder? :)

I think it is bedtime.
